London-based singer-songwriter Sienna Spiro has officially announced her debut EP, Sink Now, Swim Later, set to release on 21 February. The project’s announcement coincides with the release of her emotionally charged single, ‘Butterfly Effect’, and offers fans a deeply personal glimpse into her journey as an artist and individual.
Sharing her excitement on Instagram, Sienna revealed the EP is “an intimate project filled with stories [she’s] experienced over the past two years.” She hopes the music will resonate with listeners in their own ways while allowing them to get to know her on a deeper level. Crafted during a transformative period of her life, the songs reflect themes of change, self-discovery, and vulnerability.
A raw and personal collection
“Most of the songs are stripped and were written during a time of change—navigating the layers of being young and being a woman, and experiencing the beginnings and endings of relationships in my life,” Sienna wrote.
While each track inhabits its own world, the EP collectively explores the feeling of being on the outside—whether it’s longing for validation, the pressure to conform, or finding solace in fantasy. This deeply personal approach underpins Sienna’s raw and emotive storytelling, giving fans an opportunity to connect with her music on an even more profound level.
‘Butterfly Effect’, the opening track of the EP, introduces its emotional tone with Sienna’s powerful yet vulnerable vocals paired with a striking piano melody. Produced by Yakob, the single has already captured listeners’ hearts, continuing the momentum from previous hits like ‘Back to Blonde’ and ‘Maybe.’.
Sienna’s Instagram post also emphasised her gratitude towards the collaborators who helped bring her vision to life, describing the creation of the EP as a meaningful and transformative experience. “Music is and has been the most important thing in my life, so this is so special that I’m putting out my own,” she added.
A year of breakthroughs
Since debuting in May 2024, Sienna has garnered over 30 million streams, amassed a significant online following, and earned praise from industry legends like SZA and Snoh Aalegra. With her debut EP just weeks away, Sienna is poised to make 2025 her defining year as she continues to solidify her place in the music industry.
