South West-based production collective San Reetam is set to release their deeply emotional charity single, ‘Holding On To Love’, on 23rd January 2025. The song, inspired by composer/producer MDB’s personal experience of loss, explores the pain and acceptance of watching a loved one face the end of life.
Featuring a soulful saxophone solo by Bristol musician James Morton, alongside gospel-trained drummer 3D and contemporary pianist Joe Pike, the single promises a rich, heartfelt listening experience. In a generous gesture, all proceeds from the release will be donated to Royal Trinity Hospice in London, a specialist provider of palliative care for those living with life-limiting illnesses.
Fundraiser Gig at Komedia
To further support Royal Trinity Hospice, San Reetam will perform a special fundraiser gig at Komedia in Bath on 30th January. The event will see the collective bring their cinematic soundscapes to life on stage, with all ticket sales going directly to the hospice.
The charity single marks another milestone for San Reetam, who have earned a reputation for creating music with emotional depth and cinematic qualities. Their evolving sound blends neo-soul, R&B, and orchestral elements, making them stand out in the contemporary music scene.
A Journey of Musical Growth
San Reetam was formed in 2021 by MDB and pianist Joe Pike, following the success of their collaborative projects that gained airplay on Planet Rock Radio and BBC Introducing. Their debut single, ‘Under A Moon’, released in July 2022, received praise from local radio stations and music blogs. The follow-up single, ‘As Strong As You’, released in October 2022, was included in BCFM’s Bristol Music Show playlist.
Known for their electrifying live performances, the group has played sold-out shows in Bristol and Bath, including a headline gig at Komedia as part of Bath Fringe Festival. For those seeking an unforgettable musical experience and an opportunity to support a vital cause, ‘Holding On To Love’ is not to be missed. Be sure to stream the single and catch the band live at Komedia, Bath, on 30th January.
