Exciting news for alt-folk and punk fans: River Rayne is officially set to release their debut LP on May 3rd! Packed with raw emotion, powerful lyrics, and a good dose of DIY spirit, this nine-track project is shaping up to be something really special.
The record kicks off with a spoken word introduction before easing into a series of tracks that dive deep into River Rayne’s life experiences. People have always been a huge inspiration for River’s songwriting, and this debut feels like an open letter to the friends, struggles, and moments that made them who they are.
One of River Rayne’s personal favourites from the LP is ‘Darling’, a gorgeous, heartfelt collaboration with friend and fellow musician IZZY. Even though it’s technically a demo, the track captures everything River loves about honest songwriting. Another highlight is ‘someone get this guy a therapist’, a track that tackles River’s anxieties head-on, and even features contributions from US-based punk band Bloody Crying Twinks.
Fans might recognise a few songs already released as singles, but hearing them in the context of the full LP will make them feel brand new. The release date also comes with a sweet backstory: when asked by a fan to pick a date in May, River Rayne ran with it. Proof that this album isn’t just about the artist – it’s a true community effort.
Speaking about the project, River Rayne says, “I really think this LP is some of my best work and I’m so excited to share it with the world.”
Expect a project full of heart, honesty, and incredible storytelling. Based on everything River Rayne has teased so far, this debut is definitely going to be worth the wait.
