Project Culture return with their latest single, ‘Anyone Can Fall in Love’, releasing on 14th February. The London-based art rock quartet continue to push boundaries, fusing their signature alt-rock sound with the charm of a classic show tune.
The song takes inspiration from dramatic monologue poetry, playing with the idea of self-denial. Its narrator claims he doesn’t think about love, preferring to focus on personal ambition. However, as the song unfolds, it becomes clear that love is all he can think about. The track builds to a hopeful conclusion, suggesting that one day, he will finally embrace it.
Frontman and songwriter Tom was heavily influenced by Stephen Sondheim while writing the song. He set out to craft a theatrical, old-school romantic number that wouldn’t feel out of place in a classic musical. At the same time, the band’s heavier alt-rock sensibilities ensure the song remains unmistakably their own.
