Pulp announce new album More with explosive single ‘Spike Island’

Pulp are officially back. The Britpop legends have confirmed their first studio album in 24 years, with More arriving on 6 June 2025 via Rough Trade Records. To kick things off, they’ve released lead single ‘Spike Island’, a fiery, festival-ready anthem that reintroduces the band’s unmistakable energy.

With stomping guitars, pounding drums and frontman Jarvis Cocker’s signature storytelling, ‘Spike Island’ bursts with urgency. The lyrics dive into conflict and connection, pairing emotional intensity with dry wit. It’s a song that feels made for muddy fields, crowd singalongs and an emotional release after years of anticipation.

A return fans have been waiting for

After a string of reunion shows in 2023, fans hoped that more was coming. The announcement of More confirms the band’s creative spark is burning brighter than ever. The new album was produced by James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Blur, Depeche Mode) and recorded in both Sheffield and London.

Jarvis has described the album as “a search for meaning, and for people who feel the same way.” Early descriptions suggest a record that balances classic indie grit with introspective warmth. While only one song has been released so far, More already feels like a statement. Not just a return, but a reinvention.

Single ‘Spike Island’ lands somewhere between the theatrical drama of This Is Hardcore and the punch of Different Class. The production is crisp, but it retains the raw charm that made the band one of the UK’s most important alt-pop acts of the ’90s.

Although there’s no full tour announcement yet, hopes are high for live dates in support of the album. Given the reaction to last year’s shows, it seems likely Pulp will be back on stage soon, delivering new material alongside their iconic back catalogue.

For now, fans can dig into ‘Spike Island’, which is streaming on all platforms. The full album More drops on 6 June and is available to pre-order now.
