Lizzo is officially back and ready to shake things up again. The four-time GRAMMY and Emmy-winning superstar has just dropped ‘Love In Real Life’ which is her first solo release in three years. The song is out now on all streaming platforms and also serves as the title track for her upcoming album which arrives in 2025.
To make her return even bigger, Lizzo has released a cinematic music video for ‘Love In Real Life’ directed by Colin Tilley. The video shows her dealing with heartbreak before heading out with friends, only to realise they are disappearing into a faceless crowd. The visuals match the song’s powerful energy and mark the start of a whole new era for her.
A Fresh Sound With A Rock Influence
‘Love In Real Life’ sees Lizzo leaning into rock sounds while keeping her signature groove. The song starts with a soft spoken-word intro before building into bright guitars and an addictive beat. The chorus is classic Lizzo, filled with confidence and fun as she sings “Baby come over here I need love in real life.”
She has been teasing this new music for a while. Earlier this month, she posted on social media saying goodbye to her Special era before sharing a flute-heavy trailer for ‘Love In Real Life.’ Fans instantly went into a frenzy. Rolling Stone wrote “She is entering a new era of music” while Billboard said “It’s about damn time for some new Lizzo music.”
Lizzo’s Biggest Return Yet
Lizzo has been a huge force in music and pop culture, and she’s not slowing down anytime soon. She’s won four GRAMMYs, an Emmy, and has dropped hit after hit. Her last album Special was a massive moment, especially when ‘About Damn Time’ took home Record of the Year at the 2023 GRAMMYs. That win made her the first Black woman to get the award since 1994.
She first blew up with ‘Truth Hurts,’ which ruled the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks. It became the longest-running number-one hit by a solo female rap artist. Since then, Lizzo has kept the momentum going, topping charts, selling out arenas, and even landing roles in blockbuster movies and TV shows.
But Lizzo isn’t just about music. She’s built a whole brand around self-love and confidence. She launched Yitty, a shapewear line that celebrates every body type, and starred in the Emmy-winning reality series Watch Out for the Big Grrrls. Whether it’s music, fashion, or TV, Lizzo knows how to take over.
A New Era Begins
With Love In Real Life, Lizzo is stepping into an exciting new chapter. The new single has already sparked major buzz and, with a new album on the way, she is ready to take over once again.
