LALA HAYDEN unveils viva venus and releases new single ‘honeymoon suite’

LALA HAYDEN has announced her brand-new EP, viva venus, set for release on 28 March. Alongside the news, she shares her latest single, ‘honeymoon suite’, a dark yet entrancing track that explores love as both an escape and an addiction.

The EP follows her 2023 debut Girl Becomes and will feature previously released singles ‘rush of love’ and ‘baby you’re the best!’. Working with producer Ben Christophers (Bat For Lashes, Françoise Hardy), LALA HAYDEN continues to draw from the influences of strong female voices, blending the shimmering synth-pop of Robyn with the sultry introspection of Róisín Murphy and Lykke Li.

Love, Technology, and Self-Discovery

Speaking about viva venus, LALA HAYDEN describes it as a journey through love and self-exploration. “This EP is about seeking love externally and then realising the love that exists within. Technology has irrevocably changed how we engage with ourselves and the world around us. It feels like we’re always chasing the next thrill, the next best thing.”

Her latest single, ‘honeymoon suite’, perfectly captures this theme. Co-written with Sam McTrusty and Ross McNae (Twin Atlantic) and Jackson Couzens (Balancing Act), the track plays with the idea of retreating into love to avoid confronting inner darkness.

“A dark and sweet, lovesick toxic lullaby,” LALA HAYDEN explains. “I wrote it after a night at a casino hotel in Palm Springs. There was so much happening around me, but I felt anxious and just wanted to hide inside the suite with my love. I’ve been addicted to the honeymoon phase, chasing light to escape the darkness inside.”
