Georgia Johnson to release her new single ‘Ghost Song’ in time for Halloween
Georgia Johnson is getting us all in the mood for Halloween with her new single, the spookily titled ‘Ghost Song’. The new single is out on 27th October. We’ve been lucky enough to have a listen and it’s a great step up for Georgia with a pop-rock edge that is very different to what we’ve had before. Georgia’s vocal are stunning and it’s lovely to see her exploring her sound. There’s a reason we think she’s going to be one of the UK’s biggest stars in the next few years; and ‘Ghost Song’ just adds more weight to our conviction.
Talking about ‘Ghost Song’ Georgia Johnson says “Ghost Song is a song I wrote in October last year when my anxiety was at a high. I originally had the chords and rhythm come to me one night in a practice room and for a couple of weeks could not think of any lyrics to put with them as I’m not so used to writing more upbeat songs“.
“A friend in work had noticed I kept drawing silly ghosts around my workplace, as it was the week of Halloween, and suggest I write about those. I used my own personal experience of mental health in a metaphor of a ghost “living in my mind” . We wanted it to have a ‘Wet Leg’ punk vibe and a hint of Two Door Cinema Club inspiration in the guitar riffs”
Alongside the new single Georgia is playing a gig in an actual church on release day. You can buy tickets to watch someone who is going to be massively famous one day for just £6! Frankly, if you’re near Liverpool and don’t do this there is no hope for you.
