Rising UK alt-indie star Austel has announced the release of an extended edition of her acclaimed debut album, Dead Sea, set to arrive on 7 February 2025. Known for her ethereal vocals and emotive songwriting, Austel’s music draws comparisons to artists like Daughter, London Grammar, and Aurora.
Originally released in 2024, Dead Sea was a self-produced labour of love spanning over seven years. The album’s intricate soundscapes and intimate lyrics received critical praise, with BBC Introducing calling it “ethereal, beautifully arranged and exceptionally produced,” and Mystic Sons dubbing it “alt-pop gold.” It featured prominently across platforms such as Spotify UK & IE Fresh Finds, RTÉ, and Indie Boulevard.
This new extended edition offers fresh insights into Austel’s artistry, featuring two brand-new tracks—’Tall Order’ and ‘Forgive & Forget’—that delve into themes of control within relationships. The release also includes two exclusive demos: a stripped-down guitar version of ‘Cut Me Down’ and an early take on ‘Beds of Stone,’ showcasing the raw beginnings of her creative process.
A Unique Artistic Vision
The album’s artwork, a striking cast of Austel’s head sculpted in salt, was created by Colombian artist Natalia Giraldo Giraldo. This visual encapsulates the record’s themes of fragility and resilience, complementing its lush sonic landscapes.
Ahead of the album’s launch, Austel will perform live at The Cav in London on 3 February 2025 as part of Independent Venue Week. The intimate performance offers fans a chance to experience her spellbinding presence up close. Tickets are available now.
The extended edition cements Dead Sea as more than an album—it’s a journey into vulnerability, self-expression, and the beauty of imperfection.
Dead Sea (Extended Edition) will be available on all streaming platforms from 7 February 2025. For more information and ticket sales, visit Austel’s website.
